681 Persian and non-Persian Language journal titles were being published in Iran between 1995-1996. They covered a wide range of subjects. According to Directory of Iranian Journals and Newspapers 1995-1996 these periodicals covered 982 subject areas. The highest number belonged to social sciences, applied sciences (technology), pure science, education, Literature and linguistics, Philosophy, and psychology and medical sciences
