The Paper describes the current contents service set up by ISIS in 1994. It is based on the table of contents of more that 500 core periodicals in the field o agriculture, animal husbandry, rangelands, soil and water resource management, and engineering. Each table of contents is scanned and processed by an OCR software. Secondary post-processing ensures that the data are retrievable using a simplified user interface. The data thus produced are available for distribution using diskettes or via BBS.
