Citation analysis, as one of the quantitative methods, is
based on the citations available in scholarly resources as it analyses
and evaluates these resources by counting the number of citations used
in various documents such as journals articles, theses a
Surveys on citation analysis were started in the 1980s in Iran and up to
now many studies have been conducted in this area. This paper
investigates, through an analytical approach, the most significant
Persian works available on the area
dissertations, and conferences weld in Iran which have contributed to
knowledge of this field. Based on the results, many surveys have been
conducted on the citation analysis, but the proportion of theses and
dissertations is more than any other types of resources. The findings
show that the field of theses/dissertations and articles available in the
area, is relatively common and mostly based on the preliminary works.
In general, citation analysis in Iran needs an evolut
the LIS instructors and researchers have to take it into a more precise
attention.
