The present paper briefly touches upon management approaches towards digital preservation. Characteristics of Digital objects, the need for preservation of digital resources, responsible centers and legal, financial and technical means available such as migration and replication are discussed. The requirement to utilize security metadata as a part of digital archives in support of technical means towards digital preservation is emphasized.
