Abstract
Reliability in Web construction by academic libraries is one important factor contributing to libraries move in this direction. The present study has compared the content and structural features of the academic libraries Web pages with the Web pages operated by the academic libraries in North America and Australia. Given their long experience in this area, they were expected to have achieved progress and success in this respect. The findings indicated that most of the features studied, were more pronounced in the non-Iranian websites. Furthermore, a huge gap was observed between Iranian and non-Iranian web sites from the standpoint of content features. This could be attributed for none-inclusion of librarians’ views in the design of Iranian websites. Also the findings indicated that among the non-Iranian web sites, there are more difference in content features than structural features.
