Weblogs are simple internet-based pages and are a very recent phenomenon. They make accessible for a large group of users classified and searchable information. In effect they had provided an information forum whereby individuals can partake in discussions. Librarians were among the first to welcome this new development and using it to spread new ideas, opinion and information. Weblog importance lies in its simplicity of hassle-free operation. The librarians do not need to be adept in technical issues. At whatever ICT level of expertise, the librarians could deploy weblog to publicize their services, get in touch with colleagues and enhance their own knowledge. The present paper provides an overview of weblog phenomenon, the current research underway and its myriad of applications in the world of libraries and librarians.
