Feedback that has been a fundamental concept within the physical and the social sciences, with its origins drawn from cybernetics, is also known as a key component in information science within IR (Information Retrieval) process to facilitate communication between users and IR systems. Presenting a general image of feedback and IR concepts, this article discusses, in more detail, the models and different views of feedback to determine the role of feedback in IR. On the other hand, the methods affected by recent progressive information technology and intelligent aspects of IR, that has alternatively brought about the increasing of the possibilities in the interaction between users and these systems, is also discussed in this article.
