This article deals firstly with the reasons for importance and necessity of information in the present era And the role it plays in effective decision-making process as well as societal advancement and development. It then offers a summary of views held by Iranian experts and authorities on the topic of National Information System. The performance of national information systems in several countries including Malaysia Denmark Singapore and Jordan is reviewed. In the conclusion some proposals are made for Design and establishment of a comprehensive national information system in Iran.
