For the present study, Iranian researchers scientific output for 1998-2007 period as indexed by Web of Science citation database were collected. The trend in scientific output were studied and analyzed using various authorship algorithms (single authored, co-authored, triple authored, papers with four or more authors). Findings indicated that single authored output had the lowest rate of gain while outputs with four or more author had the highest growth rate. The most collaborative subject field had been molecular biology and genetics and the least collaborative had been mathematics. The scope of international cooperation in various fields also indicated that geology, economics and business had the highest amount of cooperation with researchers from other countries. Pharmacology and chemistry had the least international cooperation.
