Nowadays we are in the age of information explosion. It is a time period marked by ICT induced upheaval in people lives. Information collection, storage, retrieval, transmission and dissemination have become different. Nevertheless, access to organized information is still the focus of attention so as to improve users’ information services and access at least amount of time possible. Since the library science has undergone a shift in line with the changes sweeping the information science, and given the fact that librarians champion the interests of information users, the present paper attempts to outline information portals and their applications, as well as importance, within libraries
