Introduction:

Open Science is revolutionizing research by promoting transparency, accessibility, and collaboration. However, developing countries face unique challenges in adopting Open Science practices, particularly in research data management. This special issue of the Scopus indexed Iranian Journal of Information Processing and Management (JIPM), in collaboration with IranDoc's Open Science Laboratory, invites submissions that explore innovative and unique strategies, actions, case studies, and policy frameworks to advance Open Science in such countries. We welcome contributions from researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from all around the world especially from developing countries to foster a global dialogue on equitable data, information and knowledge sharing.

Potential Topics of interest (but are not limited to):

  • Policy challenges and solutions for Open Science adoption;
  • Case studies of successful Open Science initiatives in Developing countries;
  • Ethical, technical, social, cultural, etc. considerations in Research Data Management (RDM);
  • Capacity building and training programs for Open Science;
  • The role of national/institutional repositories in the advancement of Open Science;
  • Funding models for sustainable Open Science projects;
